Our Approach: Community at the Center

CORE takes a holistic, bottom-up approach in its assistance of the vulnerable populations in Ongutoi. The organization is rooted in the community and thus, the community (parents, grandparents, caretakers, relatives, and neighbors of the vulnerable children) is a partner and leader in it’s own development.

Our approach is built around four principles:

• Local Ownership

  Solutions are developed with community members and reflect local priorities, knowledge, and circumstances.

• Holistic Support

  We recognize that poverty, education, health, trauma, food security, and access to basic resources are interconnected.

• Sustainability

  We seek approaches that strengthen people's ability to meet their own needs over time rather than creating long-term dependence on outside assistance.

• Partnership

  We believe lasting progress is achieved through collaboration among community members, local organizations, donors, and other partners.
